Playa Caribe
A small, rocky-edged cove with regular waves, popular with local surfers and surf schools. It is great for watching, learning to surf or bodyboarding — but not always calm enough for relaxed swimming.
Guayacanes
A quieter beach next to a small fishing community, with calmer water and simple restaurants serving fresh fish. Weekdays are very peaceful.
Getting there
Both are along the Autovía del Este near Juan Dolio, about 45 minutes from the Colonial Zone and around 20 minutes from SDQ.
Practical tips
At Playa Caribe, respect the flags and currents and surf only with a school if you are a beginner. Bring water shoes for rocky entries and cash for food and chairs.
