Why go

Juan Dolio has a more relaxed, residential feel than Boca Chica. The beach is long, with sections of soft sand and calm water separated by rocky stretches, and there are plenty of beach bars and small restaurants.

Getting there

About 50 minutes from the Colonial Zone via the Autovía del Este, or about 25 minutes from Las Américas Airport (SDQ). Our beach day can be adapted to Juan Dolio on request.

What to do

Swim, sunbathe, eat fresh fish, and walk along the shore. Neighbouring Guayacanes and Playa Caribe are a few minutes away, and snorkelling and diving trips run from the area.

Juan Dolio vs. Boca Chica

Boca Chica: closer to the city, a shallow lagoon and lively weekends. Juan Dolio: a little further, more space and a quieter atmosphere.

Practical tips

Some sections have rocky entries; water shoes help. Weekdays are the quietest. Bring cash for beach chairs and snacks.
